Decking Stain from Protek is a waterproofing wood stain designed to be used on all types of wooden decking boards. This water based acrylic stain derived from natural linseed oil allows you to add colour to your decking whilst also adding a protective waterproof coating to the surface. Decking stain is child, animal and plant safe and comes in a wide range of colours allowing you to choose the best option for your deck. This water based treatment can be applied by brush, roller or sprayer.

Application

Surfaces should be cleaned with warm water, detergent and a stiff brush. Make sure that any previous surface treatments, pressure treatment residue, mould and algae is removed and rinse well. When applying to untreated timber, a basecoat of preservative should be applied prior to application of the Decking Stain (Protek Wood Preserve ++ is recommended). Pressure treated timber requires no basecoat but should be allowed to weather for 3 months prior to applying the Decking Stain. Ensure that timber is fully dry, do not apply to wet timber or if rain is expected within 48 hours, or if the temperature is below 5 degrees. Two coats of Decking Stain is recommended. Touch dry within 2 hours depending on drying conditions and humidity.
