HOW TO ORDER A MADE TO MEASURE GATE

Click on the ‘Made to Measure’ button with the tape measure, this will open a screen for you to enter your sizes for an instant quote.

STEP 1 – Enter the Gate Width

The gate width is the physical width of the gate from frame to frame. 

NOTES: If you already have posts in place, remember to allow yourself room for the hinges / latch and an expansion gap of at least 10mm for single gates (20mm for double gates) as wood will expand and contract with the changes in temperature and humidity. 

STEP 2 – Enter the Gate Height

The gate height is the height of the side frames. 

NOTES: The top horizontal rail sits 13cm below the top of the frame and the bottom rails sits 7cm up from the bottom of the frame, with the remaining centre rails evenly spaced. Remember to allow yourself at least 25mm ground clearance.

Fittings. The Evington gates are not supplied with any fittings; however an optional fittings pack is available which includes the correct size hinges and latch for this type of gate. The long strap hinge should be fitted to the top rail and the short hinge to the side frame towards the bottom of the gate. The fittings we have available are galvanised to prevent rust.

Wooden Posts. Posts are recommended for use with the wooden gates. For a long maintenance free life, pressure treated gate posts are recommended however any wooden post in a good solid condition, that is either wall mounted or concreted into the ground would be suitable. If concreting into the ground, the posts should be dug in by approximately 60cm.

General Information

Construction: The gate is constructed from smooth planed Scandinavian Redwood. Mortise and tenon joints are used throughout.

Finish: The Evington gates are supplied pressure treated which leaves the wood with a temporary green tint. If left to weather, the wood will fade to a silvery grey colour; however you can change the colour straight away by staining the wood using Protek Timber Eco Shield, or it can be painted after it has been allowed to weather for at least 3 months using a product compatible for use with pressure treated timber.
