HOW TO ORDER A MADE TO MEASURE GATE
Click on the ‘Made to Measure’ button with the tape measure, this will open a screen for you to enter your sizes for an instant quote.
STEP 1 – Enter the Gate Width
The gate width is the total physical width of the pair of gates.
NOTES: Wooden gates look best when fitted virtually flush to the posts but you must allow an expansion gap of at least 20mm for a pair of gates as wood will expand and contract with the changes in temperature and humidity. Therefore the width of double gates you order should be at least 20mm less than your gap to allow for expansion of the timber.
STEP 2 – Enter the Gate Height
The gate height is the distance from the bottom of the frame to the highest point in the gate. The gate height is the physical height of the gate itself and does not include any ground clearance, which would typically be 25mm (1") or more if your ground slopes.
NOTES: If your posts are 2000mm above ground and you want the top of the gate to be level with the top of the post, you should enter a height of 1975mm or less depending on how much ground clearance you will need.
Once you have entered your measurements, your made to measure quotation will be displayed. This is the total price, including VAT and delivery (excluding Highlands & Islands). When you are ready, click "Add to Basket" and go through the checkout to complete your purchase.

Fittings - The Kensington gates are not supplied with any fittings; however an optional fittings pack is available which includes the correct size hinges and latch for this type of gate, plus a drop bolt to hold them closed. The fittings we have available are galvanised to prevent rust. Please note the gate fittings require a flat vertical surface for installation.
Wooden Posts - Posts are recommended for use with the wooden gates. For a long maintenance free life, pressure treated gate posts are recommended however any wooden post in a good solid condition, that is either wall mounted or concreted into the ground would be suitable. If concreting into the ground, the posts should be dug in by approximately 60cm.
Construction - The gate is constructed from smooth planed Scandinavian Redwood. The front boards are a tongue and groove construction that creates a solid gate with no gaps for maximum privacy. The back of the gate has vertical, horizontal and diagonal heavy duty braces for maximum strength and rigidity.
Finish - The Kensington gates are supplied pressure treated which leaves the wood with a temporary green tint. If left to weather, the wood will fade to a silvery grey colour; however you can change the colour by painting or staining the wood after it has been allowed to weather for at least 2 months. If you wish to do this, you should use a paint or stain that is compatible with pressure treated timber. The metalwork is supplied zinc plated and black powder coated which is ready to hang. This protection can be topped up every 5-7 years or as required using a suitable exterior metal paint such as Hammerite.
