The Rectangular Raised Bed is made in the UK from redwood pine that has been sourced from sustainable Scandinavian forests. The 1.6cm thick planed timber has been kiln dried for stability and straightness and then high pressure treated with Tanalith E to maximise its lifespan and to help prevent rot, insect and fungal attack. Tanalith E is a water based wood preservative that contains copper and proven organic biocides. Tanalised 'pre-treated' timber is suitable for the construction of earth retaining structures. The rectangular raised bed is available in a combination of sizes and heights so that you can get exactly the right raised bed for your needs.

These raised beds are suitable for growing strawberries, vegetables, plants or flowers. The deeper raised beds are ideal for people with mobility problems as they are easier to tend than a ground level border and are a popular choice for schools or families with young budding gardeners as they provide children with their own little self contained garden to maintain.

The Soil Association states that if the timber used for organic vegetable beds is preservative pre-treated then there are no issues in terms of organic status. If, however, the wood is treated once the raised bed has been built (and brush applied preservative) then this would affect the status of the land.

Supplied flat packed, the raised beds can be built in minutes and are supplied with full assembly instructions.

This is a natural product made from wood that will include natural features like knots and veins through the grain. The wood will react to exposure to sunlight and changing moisture levels that can cause cracks or splits in the wood. These natural characteristics are due to the wood losing moisture during warm and dry seasons, during colder and wetter seasons the wood will uptake moisture again which will reduce these splits or cracks. This natural process will not affect the longevity nor structure of the product. Being a natural product this item is susceptible to shrinkage/swelling, all sizes are therefore approximate. Sizes apply to external dimensions.
