Wooden shed are more traditional, will blend into your garden, and are easy to paint if you wish in a range of earth and garden colours. You can, with most sheds, choose which side to position your windows, and there are single and double door openings. Doors can be hung either side. We stock many sizes.
Wooden sheds usually come with its own floor so installation is generally fairly straightforward, you just need to ensure that it has a firm, level base to stand on. A concrete base is best or you can use paving slabs or if necessary, it can be sat on gravel providing the ground is firm but free draining. Where possible, buy a shed bigger than you think you will need - you can use it as a workshop, a store for children's larger toys - or to overwinter glazed garden pots, the extra space will come in very handy and will be used up quicker than you expect. In fact most people will say a shed can never be big enough. Shelves and tools hangers can be fixed to suit your own requirements.
Garden Oasis have a range of different shed style manufactured with different finishes so you can find the one that best suits your requirements and budget. Below is a brief guide to some of the different finishes available when buying a wooden shed.
Pressure Treated Sheds. Sheds made using pressure treated timber offer a low maintenance solution as the timber never needs treating and the sheds are supplied with a manufacturer's 15 year guarantee against rot. All of our Pressure Treated Sheds are manufactured using European timber with mineral roofing felt, unless otherwise stated. These Sheds are constructed using sturdy 28mm x 28mm frames and 8mm overlap cladding with clear 1.5mm safety styrene glazing for all windows.
Shiplap Sheds. These are high quality sheds, constructed using sturdy 45mm x 28mm frames and 12mm tongue and groove cladding with clear 1.5mm safety styrene glazing for all windows. All shiplap sheds are pre-treated with a mild preservative at the factory enabling you to paint or stain the shed in the colour of your choice to match its surroundings. The sheds should receive a coat of timber preservative or paint immediately after installation, and annually thereafter.
Overlap Sheds. Using overlap boards is the cheapest method of construction, so overlap sheds are generally the cheapest option for their size. The sheds are constructed using sturdy 28mm x 28mm frames and 8mm overlap boards with clear 1.5mm safety styrene glazing for all windows. The timber used in the construction of these sheds is pre-treated with a mild preservative at the factory so they should have a coat of quality preservative or paint immediately after installation, and annually thereafter.
If you want a maintenance free shed then you should consider a metal shed. Our range of Metal Sheds are constructed using hot-dipped galvanised steel throughout and carry a 12 or 15 year rust perforation guarantee, and will not warp or crack. They are delivered finished in the colour advertised, so there is no need to paint them and they require no annual maintenance.
Our metal sheds feature various height side walls with ventilated gables and a reinforced exit/entry ramp across the full width of the door opening as standard.
Metal sheds don't have integrated floors so it is essential that these sheds are anchored to a suitable solid base, or you can use the optional Foundation Kit which is detailed under products listed. Full details on how to prepare a base will be sent prior to the shed being delivered.
The optional Foundation Kit is the easiest and quickest way to create a solid base on which to site your shed. The kit consists of a steel frame that slots together with ease. Position the foundations on flat ground, anchor the shed to the foundation kit using the fixings provided, then once your shed is installed you can simply fill the foundation kit with concrete to the tops of the rafters to create a solid and hard-wearing floor.
Two DIY enthusiasts can install a shed and base, or you can take advantage of our Home installation option to ensure a professional finish. The installation team will book a date with you to carry out the installation and will install the shed and the foundation kit for you. Cost is related to shed size - see under shed details.
