Maintenance is easy, just make sure you wipe down the furniture keeping dust and dirt free. You can obviously place any cushions in the wash if they happen to get dirty.

Rattan originates from tropical regions across Australasia, Africa and Asia. The name applied to over 600 species of palms. About 70% of rattan comes from Indonesia.
Although these palms or rattan can differ greatly, they are greatly used for baskets and garden furniture because it is very much like wood, accepts paint in a similar way and worked into many styles. What’s more is the plants grow much quicker than other tropical plants and the process of harvesting is much simpler because of the simple tools needed and easy transportation.
The outer shell of rattan can be easily stripped off and used for weaving whereas the internal core, which is much harder, is used in wicker furniture.
Wicker is used throughout the world for many things. As you know it’s commonly used for rattan garden furniture, but it’s also used for martial arts canes and in 2010 in Italy, it’s even been combined with other materials and a heating process to create artificial bone! You can expect to have rattan artificial bones in 2015!
The resin from rattan fruit is sometimes called “dragon’s blood” and was used as a dye for colouring violins.
A far more flexible material than most realise rattan is a fantastic wood that’s stunning, durable, light and long lasting. Combine that with some great design and colour, you have a high quality rattan garden furniture range suitable for any surroundings.
