PLAYHOUSES AND PLAYING OUTDOORS
Research into children's development is overwhelmingly in favour of outdoor play and activities. As well as being good for general health, it allows children's vivid imaginations to come to the fore, also promoting independence. We have at last recognised the consequences of only allowing children to spend their play time mainly indoors, where they can be adversely affected by lack of stimulation, or not develop their social skills while they get hyped up playing for hours with solitary computer games or watching TV.
Whenever possible let young children play outdoors, Warmly clothed, they won't feel the cold as perhaps our older bones do - and anyway they are usually running around much too fast to be cold!
Garden playhouses have become increasingly popular - giving your little angels their own home in which to play their imaginary games with their siblings, friends or pets. They can even rehearse and then role play a story for you to sit and enjoy; or offer you a cup of cordial or even (if you are very lucky) share some of their sweeties as well.
We have a range of playhouses, divided roughly into 3 main types - mini cottages (and mansions) which can be supplied with a wooden floor, or you can set onto your own base; raised playhouses which have the additional fun of steps and slides and more portable wigwams, fairy princess play-tents and astronaut rockets. - so there is something suitable for your price bracket for all young children.
LITTLE GIRLS COTTAGES AND MANSIONS
Our little girls playhouse cottages are brightly stained mainly in pink - extensive research shows that girls adore pink, be it headbands, clothes, or playhouses - pink it is!! The mansions even have flower boxes, post boxes, and a nameplate for you to complete over the door.
You don't want a pink playhouse, or your son/grandson wouldn't set foot inside it ? Fear not, we have the 'Wacky' range which is brightly coloured for all children to enjoy; and the Polly playhouse - constructed from FSC certified timber, in quality shiplap cladding, which has been dipped with preservative and comes with a 10 year anti rot guarantee - so will still be serviceable for siblings in the future. This playhouse can be left untreated - or you could paint it yellow - or even blue... We suggest that whether you leave it natural or paint it, do paint the big decorative flower of the front. Contact us if you are unsure of the type of paint/woodstain you should be using.
ELEVATED PLAYHOUSES ON PLATFORMS
If you can spend a little more, you can increase the play value with steps and a slide. These playhouses are suitable for children up to 8 years of age.
WIGWAMS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS
More portable, our boys wigwam can be left out overnight or in the rain as it is made of PVC coated waterproof nylon. For girls our pink loveheart wigwam - suitable for indoor or outdoor use can also be left outside overnight. Our wigwams are suitable for children from ages 3 years plus
ASTRONAUT ROCKETS AND FAIRY PRINCESS PLAY TENT
Back in the 20th Century, Playtents generally consisted of an old sheet and a few clothes pegs. Now your young boys can stretch their imagination to the full in the brightly coloured Astronaut Rocket, which has three portholes to view the galaxy or watch for aliens! It is made from a waterproof polyester fabric. Little girls can play make believe in the Fairy Princess play tent in pink and lilac canvas with fabric windows and topped off with a flag.
