By far the most striking of the Ninebark family, Diablo has deep purple to bronze foliage and blooms in early summer with pretty pinkish white flowers followed by very attractive bright red seeds (in fact the seeds are actually more stunning than the flowers). It does well in a mixed border or as a hedge in combination with the golden variety Dart's Golden which makes a stunning contrast. They are extremely adaptable doing well in sun as well as part shade and most types of soil, rarely in need of pruning, they actually look much better if left to grow wild.
