Gazebos can be traced back to the very earliest Egyptian gardens of 5000 years ago, and are now used throughout the world. No-one knows where the word 'gazebo' originated, it has been suggested to mean "how beautiful", "I shall gaze", "I will look" and similar sayings. We think they are all appropriate guesses.
Their use spread across Ancient Rome, Pompeii, the Persian gardens, China and Japan, France and across the world. They were even used for meditation in the gardens of monasteries.
Gazebos are usually free-standing, with open sides and very large ones are used in parks as bandstands. They are of no set shape or design.
Royalty were the first to have gazebos, then aristocrats, and the wealthy, until eventually they became affordable for all those wanting a sanctuary to provide shelter, shade, peace and somewhere to relax. Have a doze, read a book, watch the wildlife, whilst sipping a cooling drink - aaahh who wouldn't want one?
In England and North America they are traditionally made of wood. Look at the beautiful smaller Willow Gazebo in the Garden Oasis range if you are searching for something different or at the breathtaking Oriental Pagoda Gazebo in the range for a gazebo that will act as a stunning focal point in your garden.
We have a gazebo for any garden design and price range - just choose your favourite, and look forward to retreating into it, enjoying relaxing summers for years to come.
