Information about Log Cabins
Planning Permission.
In most areas of the country, planning permission for this type of construction is not required in your garden. Most of our buildings are under 30 m2, so they don't need building regulation approval as long as they are placed/sited over 5 metres from your house, are not higher than 4 metres and will not cover 50% or more of the grounds in which it is to be erected. This is subject to the Permitted Development Act. However, if your house is listed and or in a conservation area, you will need to contact your local planning office or visit www.planning.odpm.gov.uk or www.planningportal.gov.uk
Installation
Our Log Cabins are designed to be installed by a competent DIY'er, although we do offer a competitively priced installation service if you would prefer a professional to carry out the installation. All of the fitting and fixtures required to install your Log Cabin are included. Your Log Cabin should be installed on a level compacted surface, ideally on a 4" concrete base or similar solid surface.
Treatment
Unlike most Log Cabins, all of the timber used is pressure treated and therefore requires no maintenance. You can paint or stain the Log Cabin for cosmetic effect but this is not required to preserve the wood.
